Update...

I've been staring into this open window for hours, alternating in the background between NPR's All Songs Considered's year end listeners poll results and my Lost Season 4 DVDs. I just dumped twenty bucks down the iTunes music store for a few albums. I've read the newspaper about fifteen times. Ate half a bag of gifted kettle corn.

All the while this window's been open in the background. Days like that, right?

Project updates? Slow these days. It's Christmas. But Todd's been doing some leg work to secure a director for our pilot. Hopefully, we'll be able to make a formal announcement soon. But let me tell you, there's genuine excitement on my part...

These are the moments when the project becomes a waiting game as all the necessary elements pull together. I've been here more than once, and that's the curse of being the writer: My part is pretty simple. I outline, I pitch to the other producers, we work out the problems, and I write. Everything after the script is incredibly complicated, and time consuming. At least this time, Todd's brought me in for a crash course on executive producing (a first for me). Usually, I hand over the script and then wait for updates. And wait. And wait.

In the meantime, I've been plotting out the two episodes after the pilot. I mentioned earlier that our intent in April is to shoot the first three episodes? Did I? Bouncing between the blog and my outline for number two, there was something that somebody brought up in the comments last week that I'd really wanted to address. Now seems like the perfect moment... Or it would be. I have to run downtown and collect my lovely wife from her ballet school.

Then, let's talk about the female characters... Maybe have a discussion in general about how LDS film has treated women in the past (for better or worse). I'll be back in a while with my comment, but while I'm out braving the icy highways, I'd invite you to comment below on this topic. Cheers.
